Two workers died when they were electrocuted in a construction accident Monday in Palm Coast, Flagler County authorities said.

Richard Hockaday, 37, and Gerald Anderson, 39, were killed when the equipment they were operating struck a power line, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. The incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. on Sebastian Court, in the Seminole Woods neighborhood west of Interstate 95.

Witnesses told authorities “the power lines began to make a sizzling noise,” followed by a bright light and loud boom.

Hockaday and Anderson worked for Nomad Concrete Pumping, a subcontractor hired for the construction project, deputies said.

“This is a tragic accident,” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Although there is no foul play suspected, the scene will be processed and investigated and turned over to OSHA. We extended our condolences to the families.”

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the incident.
