A Will County man who stole more than $80,000 from Grainger received his sentence in a Grundy County courtroom on Thursday.

Alexander Pantoja, 23, of Joliet pleaded guilty to theft between $10,000 and $100,000, a class two felony and was sentenced to four years in prison followed by two years of parole.

In October of 2016, the Minooka Police Department arrested Pantoja after they were notified by Grainger employees.

Police Chief Justin Meyer said Pantoja stole merchandise from Grainger and then the sold the items over a year time span. Meyer also said a search of Pantoja’s home resulted in other proceeds that were stolen.

Prosecutors say Pantoja will have to pay $17,000 in direct restitution to Grainger. If they choose, Grainger can also seek up to another $381,440 in restitution from a civil judgment.
